VaOHC Supports Community Water Fluoridation

On May 30, warehouse club Costco published an article in their monthly magazine called, “Should community drinking water be fluoridated?” The article, included in the magazine’s “Informed Debate” section, is intended as a pro-con piece on community water fluoridation and invites readers to vote for or against the practice. View the article here.

However, dentists, physicians and public health experts agree that the benefits of community water fluoridation are not up for debate. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention calls fluoridation one of the ten most important public health achievements of the 20th Century.

Join the Virginia Oral Health Coalition (VaOHC) in support of water fluoridation by voting “Yes” in Costco’s poll (click here to vote). This is a national opportunity to send a positive message about the well-established benefits of water fluoridation.

In addition to voting, VaOHC responded directly to Costco in a letter that details the facts about fluoridation. Please consider writing a similar letter and/or email to voice your opinion about Costco’s article and the benefits of community water fluoridation. Note, you do not have to be a Costco member to submit a comment.
