    Understand the demographic makeup of the dental workforce in Virginia, and discuss solutions to addressing the challenges faced by the healthcare workforce, as well as ways to increase equity and representation.
  • What's in Your Water? Building Trust in Tap Water
    Learn how water impacts oral health and explore the reasons - and solutions - to why many Virginians don't trust their tap water.
  • Barriers to Care for Pregnant and Postpartum People
    Hear the results from a regional research project identifying barriers to care and one program's solution to connect people with care for improved whole health.

  • What's Next for Medicaid's Adult Dental Benefit
    Learn about the impact of the benefit over one year after implementation, next steps for the Medicaid dental program, and how one dental safety net clinic is ensuring its patients can access care.

    Hear what barriers to dental care one research team uncovered that were unrelated to coverage, and a few strategies to address them.
  • School-Based Oral Health Programs: Place-Based Care
    Understand best practices and lessons learned to implement school-based oral health programs from both the dental clinic staff and school nurse perspectives.

Early bird registration (until September 20):

  • Professionals: $180

General registration (September 21-30):

  • Students: $100

COVID-19 Protocols

Summit attendees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by the time of the event. Catalyst staff will monitor the community spread of COVID-19 in the Richmond/Henrico area. Masks will be strongly encouraged and available at the Summit.

Continuing Education

Participants must attend the entire program and complete an evaluation form to receive contact hours for this professional development activity.

4.25 dental CE credits

The Virginia Dental Association is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. ADA CERP is a service of the American Dental Association to assist dental professionals in identifying quality providers of continuing dental education. ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry.

The VDA designates this activity for 4.25 continuing education credits. This continuing education activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the states of the ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) through joint efforts between the Virginia Dental Association and Virginia Health Catalyst.

4.58 nursing continuing professional development contact hours

The New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing Center for Nursing  Continuing Professional Development is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development contact hours by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. (Provider #P0367).

4.5 social work CE credits

This training has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers - Virginia Chapter for 4.5 Category I Continuing Education contact hours.

4.5 CHES/MCHES CE credits

This training is designated for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 4.5 total Category 1 continuing education contact hours.

What is the Summit?

The Catalyst Annual Summit is an event for sharing ideas, making connections, and learning from our communities to improve the oral and overall health of all Virginians.

The Summit brings together about 200 people from across the commonwealth, ranging from health care providers, community health advocates, social support workers, funders, health researchers, and representatives from the state and local government. It's an excellent networking opportunity for current partners and new connections, and offers presentations from expert speakers about relevant topics in oral health, health care, and public health.
