Victor McKenzie, Jr. Named CEO of Virginia Health Catalyst

Virginia Health Catalyst’s Board of Directors is proud to announce that Victor McKenzie, Jr., will serve as the organization’s next Chief Executive Officer.

Victor is a seasoned public health advocate and nonprofit leader with a strong record of advancing health equity across Virginia. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of the Substance Abuse and Addiction Recovery Alliance (SAARA) of Virginia, where he led transformative initiatives to strengthen behavioral health systems and expand opportunities for individuals in recovery. His leadership helped establish Virginia’s first recovery high school, secure bipartisan reforms to reduce employment barriers, and expand Medicaid while bolstering the behavioral health workforce.

With deep expertise in systems-level change and community engagement, Victor brings a collaborative vision to Catalyst’s work. His appointment marks a new chapter in the organization’s efforts to drive innovative public health solutions, expand access to care, and strengthen the systems that improve health outcomes for communities across the Commonwealth.
