The Path to Advance Drinking Water Equity
Published in February 2023 by Virginia Health Catalyst's Water Equity Taskforce (WET), this report examines the state of drinking water equity in Virginia and offers three clear recommendations: maximize the current water network, advance cross-sector collaboration, and plan and invest for the future. It confronts the dual challenges of infrastructure inequity and declining trust in tap water — particularly among communities of color and low-income Virginians — and charts a course toward a Commonwealth where safe, affordable, fluoridated tap water is accessible and trusted by everyone. Use it to ground water equity advocacy, align cross-sector partnerships, and make the case for the policy and funding investments Virginia's drinking water network urgently needs.
